Gary Fisher has had quite an influence on the sport of cycling. Gary was motivated by a bicycle built by Russ Mahon and Gary began work on what would become the prototype for the modern off-road bicycle. By using parts from discarded bikes and motorcycles, Gary Fisher created a Frankenstein-like bicycle able to traverse off-road terrain and stop while careening down a mountainside.
